Angelite Properties
Angelite was discovered in 1987 near Machu Picchu in Peru on the evening of the Harmonic Convergence, the first global peace meditation event, which was organized by Jose Arguellos. During this event, thousands of people gathered at vortex locations around the world to meditate and bring in energies of love, peace, and harmony.
Since then, it has been found in Mexico, Egypt, Libya, Britain, Germany, and Poland.
Angelite is a variety of Anhydrite Gypsum, which is composed of calcium sulfate. It is a soft mineral that measures only 3-3.5 on the Moh's scale. It is an opaque stone that ranges in color from pale to medium blue or grey and often has flecks of white, brown, or red Hematite.
Anhydrite comes from the Greek word, "anhydras," meaning "without water" since Angelite is Gypsum that formed where there once was water that evaporated and has lost its hydration as a result. Because of this, it should not be exposed to water because it will convert it into Gypsum.
This stone is closely related to Celestite (another type of Gypsum), as it was formed out of Celestite that was compressed for millennia.
