Soul Astrology: Discover Your Life Purpose Through Astrology

INSIDE: Soul astrology provides a map of your soul purpose, helping you understand why you have the obstacles you have and how to move past them to accomplish the mission you came here to pursue.

Astrology is an ancient science of reading the temperaments and inclinations of humans born under certain constellations.

Astrology and Astronomy were considered twins a long time ago, and scholars who studied one always studied the other.

In mythology, it is said that Baraqiel of the Watchers taught Astrology to humans.

Astrology belonged to many branches of the “forbidden knowledge” for humans, and thus, when the Watchers decided to mingle with the humans and teach us their ways, they “fell” from grace.

Astrology = The Map of the Soul

Astrology is the map of the soul. It is the cosmic way of understanding the universe, all things, and ourselves.

No wonder it was considered forbidden knowledge.

All prominent pharaohs, kings, and queens of the past had a court astrologer and listened closely to his guidance.

This shouldn’t be intimating. Instead, it's quite fascinating and it should prompt you to delve deeper and research your own soul blueprint.

The deeper we delve into astrology, the more tools we gather to decipher our own destiny and the destination in which we are headed.

Zodiac Stones

What is Soul Astrology?

Soul Astrology is the branch of astrology that provides an individual with the keys to his own castle. Through it, we learn about ourselves, our own design, and our own dharma (and karma).

Soul Astrology helps us discover the ways in which we can make the path to our soul’s destination easier.

What is a Rising Sign?

A rising sign, otherwise known as an ascendant (AC), is the sign of our social personality. It is how we dawn on people as it relates to the zodiac sign that was on the Eastern horizon when we were born.

Our rising sign represents our physical body and outward style. It carries 80% of our natal chart. That’s why it’s very important to know our exact time of birth.

What is a Ruling Planet?

The next important thing to understand in relation to soul astrology and your rising sign is your ruling planet. The ruling planet is a planet that rules over your rising sign (Venus for Libra and Taurus, Mars for Aries, Pluto for Scorpio, etc).

We can learn much about ourselves when we take a look at our Ascendant, ruling planet, and the planets that have found themselves in our first house, the house of our rising sign.

If we don’t have any planets in our first house, then we look to our ruling planet.

For example, I don’t have any planets in my first house, so I turn to Uranus (he rules over Aquarius – my Ascendant) and take a look at where he’s at, who keeps him company, and what kind of aspects he's making to other planets in my natal chart.

Based on that, I can see what kind of temperament I have, what kind of circumstances I am met with in my daily life, and what my strengths and weaknesses are.

Sun sign and Moon sign

Your sun sign is where the sun was on the date of our birth. The same goes for your moon sign.

The moon is the quickest moving “planet,” therefore time of birth is also important in determining your correct moon sign.

What the Sun & Moon Represent in Astrology

The sun represents our ego, and moon represents our heart and emotions.

The sun also represents our father (and future husband), together with the tenth house (MC), and the moon represents our mother (and future wife), together with the fourth house (IC).

The sun is our conscious mind, whereas the moon is our subconscious mind.

The Luminaries

In astronomy, the moon is our planet’s satellite, just like Phobos and Deimos are Mars’s moons.

In Astrology, the moon (and sun) are treated like planets, but they are special because they never go retrograde, which means they never appear to be moving in a backward motion, as observed from the Earth.

This is why they are considered "luminaries," our two great lights.

How the Sun & Moon Connects to the Chakras

Your sun sign is connected with the solar plexus chakra. It represents the manner and the way in which we exert ourselves, our ego, and our desires and ambitions.

Your moon sign is connected with the heart chakra. It represents the way in which we feel, the lens through which we perceive and give love, and how we express our needs and feelings.

Dharma and Karma

Most of us want to discover our soul’s purpose and what is it that we should do in this life. The best compass for that is found in our natal chart, and they are known as "lunar nodes."

The south and north nodes show us the way.

The south node is the point in your natal charts that shows you your Karma. It tells you what kind of past lives you have led, what kind of lessons you’ve learned, and where you feel comfortable.

The north node is the point in your natal chart that shows you your Dharma. It tells you where you need to go in your life, what kind of lessons you need to learn, and where you feel uncomfortable because you feel like you’re stepping into the unfamiliar and uncharted territory.

Find your lunar nodes here.

These two points are the compass for our lives. Based on them, we can discover:

  • Where we need to go
  • What we need to do
  • What kind of lessons we need to learn and overcome in order to grow and achieve the mission we’ve come here to work on
  • What our strengths are
  • What lessons we’ve already overcome
  • Whether the relationships in our lives are karmic or dharmic (do we have a future together with this person or is it just another karmic lesson that we’re supposed to resolve from a past life).

Lunar Nodes

How to Read Your Lunar Nodes

Based on the aspects and/or close proximity of astrology planets and fixed stars in our natal charts, we can know whether we’re destined for experiencing difficulties in our path that lead us towards our lessons or whether we can achieve what we came here to do without much difficulty.

In the same way as our rising sign carries our whole horoscope, lunar nodes tell us the story of where we’ve been and where we need to go.

By taking a closer and deeper look at the positions of your lunar nodes in your horoscope, you can discover your soul’s true purpose. That’s why they are called the pillars of soul astrology.

Soul Astrology & the Rising Sign

If we find our north node in our ascendant, that means that our soul’s purpose is connected with our sense of self (with our self-actualization and our ego).

It also means that we feel comfortable in the matters of the seventh house, the house of our partner and other people.

We need to learn to feel free and fulfilled by ourselves and on our own first. Then, we can come back to our seventh house, and express ourselves though the union with our partner.

This means getting out of our “comfort zone” by doing things that are important to us, focusing on ourselves, and finding our own identity.

It includes learning the lessons of personal boundaries, being on our own, and discovering how to express our own unique selves separate from our partner’s persona.

Once we learn the lessons of the north node and we accomplish the mission that it set for us, we can comfortably come back to the south node (if we so desire).

Some of us who overcome the lessons and mission of the north node find that we feel very “at home” and comfortable in the area where the north node resides, so we don’t experience the desire to come back to the south node.

Soul Astrology & the Sun Sign

In the case where the nodes are in conjunction with the sun, we have two scenarios:

  1. When the north node conjuncts the sun, our life’s purpose is closely connected with our ego. The sun’s light is shining the way towards our mission. It’s exposing the lessons we need to overcome and learn. It makes things easier for us.
  2. If the sun conjuncts our south node, it's not as good. We’re too attached to our karma, we feel too comfortable and safe in the lessons we’ve already learned. In this case, the sun is making it extremely difficult for us to move towards our north node.

If your astrology chart depicts the latter, you'll need to work extra hard and focus on your bravery to get out of your comfort zone and reach into the dark. If you manage to do that, you can complete the mission you came here to accomplish.

Soul Astrology & the Moon Sign

If your lunar node is conjunct with the moon, then it’s as if you have this inner compass that is either guiding you towards your life mission or keeping you from it.

Soul Astrology deciphers for us which one is it. If the north node is conjunct with the moon, then it’s as if you have this inner needle guiding you north towards your soul purpose. Somehow, you always manage to overcome your lessons with intuition and gut.

If the south node conjuncts with the moon, then you have an inner avoidance of everything that comes from the north node. You fear the unknown, stay where you feel safe, and prolong the inevitable.

Final Thoughts About Soul Astrology

By understanding soul astrology, you can better understand yourself and what holds you back in life. It also gives you a clear picture of how to move forward and what you'll need to overcome along the way.
