Selenite Healing Properties: Healing, Divine Connection & Gentle Protection

INSIDE: Selenite healing properties are heavenly and rich. Let's learn what Selenite is, how it can help us physically, mentally, and emotionally, and the different ways we can use it.

Selenite is one of the most gentle protection crystals, turning our auras into a protective shield of high frequency energy. It gives us greater access to our spiritual guidance, and heals us along the way.

For all of these reasons and more, we love Selenite!

Let's go ahead and learn more about it...

What is Selenite?

Selenite is a very soft mineral with a hardness of 2 on the Mohs Hardness Scale. The chemical composition of selenite is CaSO4 2H20, Hydrous Calcium Sulfate.

One of the most common sulfate minerals in the Earth’s rocks is calcium sulfate, also known as gypsum.

The crystal itself looks like Moonshine captured in stone. It has long, straight inclusions within its surface. If you place it near a source of light, you can observe it glimmering and reflecting the light.

Selenite got its name because of its connection with the moon goddess, Selene. It was associated with her and powers similar to hers due to its white glow and moon-like nature.

The Myth Behind Selenite

In Greek mythology, Selene is the goddess of the moon. She is the daughter of the Titans Hyperion and Theia; she is also a sister of the sun god, Helios and Eos, the goddess of the dawn. She drives her moon chariot across the heavens.

Selene is an extremely beautiful woman with long hair. She wears a crown with a crescent moon on it. She has small horns and golden wings. Selene is believed to have asked Zeus to give Endymion eternal life and to make him sleep forever.

Selene has the power to induce sleep, and to give light to the night. She also controls time, and like the moon itself, she is ever-changing.

It's interesting then, that one of the most enduring parts of Selene's myth has to do with keeping her beloved Endymion in an unchanged state for eternity.

Metaphysical Healing Properties of Selenite

The metaphysical level is where the Selenite healing properties truly shine. Selenite is a stone that lives up to its name as being divine. It is a stone for shifting energy blocks that stop us from living our best life.

Of course, Selenite starts its work through the Heart chakra, but without the Heart chakra being healthy and open, the energy cannot flow to the higher chakras. That’s where using a Selenite and Rose Quartz crystal combo works wonders.

Working closely with the higher chakras like the Crown chakra and the Third Eye chakra, Selenite keeps the channel to spiritual guidance open and the divine energy flowing into and through us. Don’t get surprised if you have vivid and lucid dreams while you’re working with Selenite.

When our hearts are light and open, and our chakras are healthy and aligned, we can have trust in the messages that trickle down from higher places. Selenite is a sublime guide of our spirits, and is widely used for aura cleansing. It’s also an essential Reiki crystal.

Selenite will not only help us communicate with the divine realms, but it’s also been used for past life regression, awakening of psychic abilities, releasing all kinds of unwanted entities, and helping us move into all states of consciousness.

Using Selenite in the Home

Keeping a Selenite crystal near the head of your bed or beneath your pillow is highly beneficial. If you combine it with Black Tourmaline, you'll get better protection than any dream catcher can provide.

If you place it on your desk, you’ll be excused of any anxieties and work-related stress. Your creativity will flow rapidly and fluently, and you’ll feel inspired to do the work that has to be done.

If you put a Selenite piece in your bathroom, near a bathtub, you’re likely to feel the full relaxing power of a hot shower or a hot bath. Just be careful not to fall asleep in the tub.

Placing a Selenite on your altar will keep you balanced in your craft, and it will bring you peace when you’re planning your next ritual. It will keep your magical tools cleansed and it can provide additional protection.

Placing Selenite on a window sill provides protection to your home.

Selenite and Forgiveness

Selenite Jewelry

Selenite has been used as a jewelry adornment for many centuries, especially because it’s connected with Goddess Selene and her magical powers.

Wearing a Selenite-Tourmaline necklace will help to keep you safe, no matter the situation. It’s a gentle, feminine kind of protection. If you’re prone to getting into more dynamic situations, Tiger’s Eye might be a more suitable choice for you.

Wearing a Selenite and Amethyst ring on your forefinger can bring forth seer abilities from within you, and you can get a “clearer channel” for mediumship. If you read Tarot cards or do Rune casting, you might consider this option.

Wearing a Selenite tiara can be a plus-ultra nitro booster for your Crown chakra, especially on special occasions, like Sabbaths, rituals, fastings, or simply giving special astrological transits that extra ‘oomph’.

Cleansing Selenite Crystals

Since Selenite is a very delicate stone, it’s best to cleanse it under cool tap water, above smoke from a smudge stick, or in the moonlight. You can always place it near a large Amethyst Geode or Clear Quartz.

Make sure to segregate your Selenite crystals from the rest in order to protect them from scratches. Don't submerge them in salt or salt water due to their soft composition.

Final Thoughts

With Selenite by your side, you'll put yourself in an environment of energy that heals your emotions, your spiritual self, and your physical body. It's quite beautiful, and we can't wait to hear about your experiences.
